WELCOME TO KINGS AND QUEENS OF THE CROWN! Here are some questions we frequently encounter. Hopefully we can answer some of your questions here. If not just drop us an email. Our mailbox is always open for questions!
QUESTION #1: IS IT REALLY FREE?
The Queens of the Crown Beauty Event is 100% FREE for the contestant. We charge a nominal door entry fee for all spectators regardless of age. Due to many requests, we also offer optional casual wear and a themewear events. These events are extra.
QUESTION #2: IS THIS A NATURAL OR GLITZ PAGEANT?
Both. We get both types of contestants competing and both do well. Clothes and modeling do not count in the Beauty Event. We judge on facial beauty and personality. We instruct our judges to look from the neck up! We are looking for smooth, softly styled hair, sweet smiles, and a genuine connection with the judges.
QUESTION #3: WHAT ARE THE EVENTS?
The following events are offered at each pageant:
Beauty - FREE EVENT ~ judged on Facial Beauty and Personality
Casual Wear - $17 ~ judged on Modeling and Overall Appeal
Theme Wear - $17 ~ judged on Outfit and Personality
These are the only events. (At mini-nationals we may also add an additional themewear, anything goes, or photo event. Cost of events at mini-nationals may be slightly higher.)
QUESTION #4: WHAT IS THE ADDRESS OF THE EVENT AND WHEN DO I GET MY SCHEDULE?
For the protection and privacy of our contestants, we no longer post our event location online. Instead, you must sign up for the event first. Once we have you confirmed, we email you the location. This may be immediately after you sign up or a few weeks later, closer to the date of the event. It depends on our workload.
We also post our address to those who have joined our Facebook Event page. You may get this online by having a Facebook profile and joining our event page. Links to our Facebook Event page are on the "Schedule" tab of this website.
The schedule is generally emailed 4 to 5 days before the pageant. To get the schedule, the emaill address that you signed up with must be valid. If you do not get the schedule, it means your email is either wrong or we are caught in your spam filter. Please double check these things. You may email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to get the schedule.
QUESTION #5: CAN MY DAUGHTER WEAR A HAIRPIECE AND OR MAKE-UP?
Your daughter may wear a hairpiece or hair extensions as long as they look reasonable and natural like her hair. If they become overpowering, judges will score appropriately. We recognize that some girls have thinner hair and like to wear a hairpiece, which is acceptable. Just keep the hair soft and sweet. NO HUGE UPDOS!
We are usually in a hotel ballroom that has basic lighting (no stage lighting). So, we suggest keeping make-up soft and sweet. Dark eye shadows and heavy mascara are not recommended for ages under 6 years old.
QUESTION #6: DO I NEED A HAIR AND MAKE-UP ARTIST?
You need to do whatever you feel will make your child's facial beauty and personality shine on stage. So if mom/dad/or family member can help your contestant get ready, then go for it! If not, hair and make-up artists may available for a small fee. It is your responsibility to locate and secure your hair and make-up artist if you choose to have one. We are not responsible for any liability where this is concerned. Remember we are looking for current, fashion-forward looks. Please make sure styles are up-to-date!
QUESTION #7: HOW MUCH TIME DO I GET ON STAGE?
In the Beauty Event, we allow contestants to do their routines (up to about 1 minute maximum). Again, the goal is assessment of the contestant's facial beauty and personality. In Casual Wear and Theme Wear, we allow 1 minute 30 seconds or until the child indicates they are ready to exit the stage. However, we suggest most routines be kept to 1 minute. Remember in the Beauty and Theme Wear events, MODELING DOES NOT COUNT in the scoring.
QUESTION #8: HOW DO I REGISTER?
Everyone who enters MUST register online at least 3 days before the pageant date. When you register please provide a CORRECT email address and PHONE NUMBER and remember you are committing to an event and you should not register unless you are coming. Once you register, you will receive an email that will confirm that we have your information. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact us at email@example.com immediately!
We no longer email scores. If you are interested in speaking with the judges after the pageant, this is allowed within time constraints and reason. You may also email the director at firstname.lastname@example.org for comments. Remember this pageant is for FUN and designed to be a day of encouragement and family time. We expect you to congratulate the winners and your own contestants too.
If you cannot encourage or handle the possibility of your child placing in a certain spot, please DO NOT COME. Judges opinions vary from week to week and each of them has their own opinion that may not be the same as yours or mine. Any poor sportsmanship or rudeness may result in a PERMANENT LIFETIME BAN. Don't test us on this, we mean business.
QUESTION #10: WHAT SHOULD PARENTS/SPECTATORS/FANS WEAR?
I suggest that parents, family members and spectators dress appropriately in a business casual or dressy casual clothing. If you would wear it to an office, church, or out to a evening "theatre" event, it is appropriate for Kings and Queens of the Crown. T-shirts, ripped jeans, stained, or old clothing are not appropriate for spectators particularly if you are taking a child on stage. If you are taking an infant or young child on stage, remember to have a HIGH neckline and a beige/black/white/light pastel or corresponding color outfit that does NOT detract from the child. Poor dressed spectators may be refused entry to the event.
QUESTION #11: HOW DO I BEST PREPARE MY CHILD FOR A KINGS AND QUEENS OF THE CROWN PAGEANT?
Make sure your child is in a good mood and having fun on stage. Read everything you can on the website and ask questions by email at email@example.com. We will do all we can to help you. Get as much as you can ready in advance. On the day of the event, do not stress the details and just have a good time with your child. Often children mirror us. If we are stressed, they will be too. Remember to instruct your child to look at ALL THE JUDGES and try to make a connection. REMEMBER THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: HAVE FUN!
